Despite Parkinson’s, Glenn Tipton Considers Judas Priest Future

Glenn Tipton discussed his Judas Priest future for the first time in years. In a recent Total Guitar interview, the rocker acknowledged his condition and stated he tried his best with the band. To whether he will stay with the band, he said:

“I played my best and am proud of the album. Richie helped much. I believe his strength is his ability to adapt to numerous styles while preserving his strong character. Priest needs a guitarist who can play metal and melodies. Tipton said his Parkinson’s diagnosis was a hindrance, but he worked hard to overcome it: Parkinson’s is my limitation, therefore I’ve had to delegate a lot of work to him. I push myself because I believe in ‘no surrender’. I will write and play as long as I can despite this disease.”

Since his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2018, the guitarist has struggled. The band’s final appearance was likely last year’s Power Trip event, as Tipton reduced his travels. However, his sudden reappearance to perform stunned everyone. Halford’s interview statements were misinterpreted. Halford was questioned about Tipton’s potential inclusion in the band’s next gigs. He replied that he wasn’t sure whether he’d join.

However, he explained his statement. A different Metal Hammer interview. He said: It was lovely when he came out and the crowd shouted, ‘Glenn!’ He deserves love and respect since he’s one of the finest metal guitar players ever. No guitar player compares to Glenn Tipton. The occasion was meaningful for Glenn. It was almost like a full cycle because—I won’t say this with my palm on my heart—that may have been Glenn’s final live performance.” Tipton played numerous band gigs after the interview.
