Gene Simmons performs “Deuce” with Chevy Metal, Taylor Hawkins’ cover band

Gene Simmons surprised fans on Sunday, June 9, at a Chevy Metal event, the cover band co-founded by late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2013.Simmons joined Chevy Metal late in their concert at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, California. The 74-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer played “Deuce. ”Chevy Metal’s current roster includes bassist/guitarist Wiley Hodgden, who co-founded the band with Taylor Hawkins, singer/guitarist Brent Woods, and Shane Hawkins, 17, on drums. Woods plays in Simmons’ solo band. Fan-shot footage shows Woods introducing Simmons to the excited throng.”I grew up listening to this band, and that’s why I’m on stage, is ’cause of KISS,” Brent said as Simmons stepped behind him to the stage’s center. And now I play with Gene Simmions—look who’s here! Simmons took the mic with a bass Hodgden gave him and played “Deuce.”Hodgden shouted, “Holy s—!” as Simmons completed performing and left the stage. Chevy Metal’s Recent Concert Details
According to Setlist.fm, Chevy Metal’s program included Rudy Sarzo, Kenny Aronoff, and Phil X as guests. Sarzo covered Black Sabbath’s “Children of the Grave” with Chevy Metal, Aronoff played Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times Bad Times” and INXS’ “Don’t Change,” and Phil X sang The Cars’ “Just What I Needed” and Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love.” Chevy Metal performed Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, Talking Heads, David Bowie, The Kinks, Mötley Crüe, and Police songs.
