Guy Pratt Shares Pink Floyd Song David Gilmour’ll Never Play Again

Classic Rock spoke Guy Pratt and Lee Harris about their ‘Saucerful Of Secrets Set The Controls Tour’ setlist. David Gilmour will never perform this song, Pratt said. When discussing “Echoes,” Pratt noted, “It was a big deal playing it.” I refused for several reasons and vowed never to play again after Rick died. David stated he would never play it again, so I thought, ‘Well, who the heck am I going to play it with?’ This band was unexpected, right? I adore singing this with Gary because it honors Rick and is a rose. Dom added a thunder boom that makes you wonder, “Why wasn’t that there before?”

No Gilmour Without Rick Wright on ‘Echoes’
Gilmour and Wright last performed ‘Echoes’ on August 26, 2006. Gilmour concluded his On an Island Tour in Gdańsk Shipyard in Poland. Nick Mason and David Bowie performed in London with Gilmour throughout the tour. The Gdańsk gig was significant since it was the last performance of the song. Before Wright’s 2008 death, Gilmour and Wright played together one final time. That 2006 event was Gilmour’s last ‘Echoes’ performance. Prior to his 2016 Pompeii Amphitheater performance, he expressed interest in performing “Echoes” again, stating, “Yes, it would be lovely to play “Echoes” here.

” I’d need Rick for that. There’s something so unique about Rick and my playing that you can’t teach it. Not what music is about.” Listen to ‘Echoes’ below.
