On August 2, Brian Ray, a veteran Paul McCartney touring band member, will release his first solo album, My Town. Ray released six singles since 2017 and four new songs in the compilation. Ray released a new song, “When the Earth Was Round,” to promote the album. The 1960s-inspired psychedelic pop tune is available for download and streaming. Ray’s YouTube account has a music video with the song. Ray claims his new song is about romance in a post-truth society.
About My Town Album
Smokey Robinson, Michael Des Barres, Abe Laboriel Jr., Scott Shriner, and Elvis Costello’s Imposters bassist Davey Farragher appear on My Town. Robinson sang “One Heartbeat,” a Ray co-write for his 1987 solo album. The 2020 song “Spell Breaker” was co-written by Des Barres and Ray.The Graces, which included Meredith Brooks, Charlotte Caffey, and Gia Ciambotti, covered Willie Dixon’s “I Ain’t Superstitious” in My Town.Ray calls My Town’s songs “a labor of love.” “I hope you enjoy listening as much as we did making them, and I can’t wait for you to hear the new unreleased tracks.” Little Steven Van Zandt’s Wicked Cool Records will release My Town. Ray’s Music Career
Ray was Etta James’ guitarist and music director as a teenager. He performed and wrote with several acts throughout the 1980s. He’s played guitar in McCartney’s backup band since 2002. Ray: “Working with Etta James and Paul McCartney is like winning the lottery twice in one lifetime. “In experiences and memories, I’m a billionaire ten times over.” Ray will tour with McCartney in 2024 Ray will join the Beatles icon for a new series of performances in South America. Five gigs are set for McCartney’s Got Back Tour 2024, starting October 1 in Montevideo, Uruguay, and ending October 27 in Lima, Peru.
