While performing with Chevy Metal, Gene Simmons warns Taylor Hawkins’ son

Gene Simmons and Chevy Metal performed lately, but Shane Hawkins outpaced them. The band recently posted video from a gig when Simmons surprised them. Shawn, son of late Taylor Hawkins, plays drums too quickly throughout the concert. In one performance, the KISS singer turns his back to tell the drummer that he can’t keep up.

Fan Reactions
Fans liked that the younger Hawkins band performed with Simmons and that he urged the drummer to slow down. Someone said, “Gene telling the kid to slow down! The child rocks!” Another said, “Geno did not want to play at Shane speed.” Users found it humorous, writing, “LOL uncle Gene telling Shane to slow down.”

The Birth of Chevy Metal
Chevy Metal spent their first decade performing local pubs and clubs. The late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins led them to stadiums and festivals to play with Dave Grohl, Joan Jett, and Mick Jagger. The band held memorial concerts at Wembley Stadium and The Forum for Taylor. They originally planned these as their farewell shows. Taylor’s son believed the band should continue. He became their drummer. View the Instagram post and show clip below.
