Roger Waters fans are furious when Pink Floyd name David Gilmour’s wife lyricist

Pink Floyd presented Polly Samson, David Gilmour’s wife, to Roger Waters’ fans. Pink Floyd posted a picture of Samson and Gilmour on Polly’s birthday with the caption: “Happy birthday to Polly Samson, best-selling author and lyricist for Pink Floyd and David Gilmour. Polly in the studio with David before Christmas.”

Fans of Waters have criticized the group for naming Samson their composer. One individual wrote about Syd Barrett and Waters’ lyricism: Syd Barrett’s lyrics were appreciated by David Bowie and intriguing. Roger’s lyrics will be remembered and admired. Rly don’t believe David Gilmore’s wife, who wrote a few songs that didn’t inspire anybody, fits in here.”

Another remark questioned the post: Strange post. Never seen this website wish Roger, Nick, or Richard’s wives good birthday. Perhaps Roger was correct all along.” Another individual compared Samson to Yoko Ono: Poll is Pink Floyd’s Yoko Ono.” Waters’ contributions to the band were again mentioned: She wrote the lyrics now? Roger’s departure explains their decline.” Waters mocked Polly’s Gilmour lyrics.

Waters seldom approves of Samson’s Pink Floyd or Gilmour’s solo work. The guitarist’s latest album, ‘Luck and Strange,’ features Polly again. Samson told Rolling Stone Roger ridiculed her Gilmour help: “I no longer hide. The first time I created lyrics, David’s old lyricist gave me a poor answer, which hurt. They shouldn’t have, but I didn’t know anything about them. When I created lyrics for ‘The Division Bell,’ I didn’t want my name on it since we lived in a sexist time.”

Gilmour also said he first wanted his wife to assist him with lyrics, but he made her more involved. Samson co-wrote most of the lyrics for the guitarist’s latest album, ‘Luck and Strange.’ The first song, ‘The Piper’s Call,’ released on April 25 and the complete album will follow on September 6.
